Wooden Whale

Wooden Whale
   A name of Aldarion's Haven-finder.
A translation of Turuphanto, the nickname given to Aldarion's mighty ship the Hirilondë in the shipyards of Rómenna where she was built. Aldarion sailed the Great Sea from Númenor to Middle-earth in the Wooden Whale at least twice. After the first voyage, the ship's prow was adorned with a jewelled eagle, a gift to Aldarion from his friend Círdan.
